The culture exchange stall-Bilingual column-“Come here!”

I still remember when I was little, many children like to watch Jackie Chan’s movies, "Legend of the Condor Heroes", the 1986 version of "Journey to the West" and so on. Chinese martial arts have been rooted in the hearts of children since they were at an early age.

Everyone is a unique individual and enjoys different sports. However, there is a sport that is both fighting and fitness. It focuses on both internal and external training, which can not only strengthen the body but also cultivate the spirit of the will, which is: Chinese martial arts.

Martial arts helped create a new sport: Parkour. By looking at the most popular sports in Europe, we can see the influence of Chinese martial arts and their increasing popularity today.

First, many kids haveto choose between boxing and soccer. Boxing is considered a very violent sport. The game was invented in Greece and became very popular in England because many members of the royal family took part in it. However, boxing is considered by many to be violent and dangerous, and has negative long-term effects. Later, illegal boxing matches were organized in Europe and the United States, so the sport became associated with hatred and blood.

Football is considered cool, but many parents think it can only be a hobby but nothing else, and sometimes even a waste of time. For many, it's a sport of running furiously, trying to evade opponents and get score points. In any case, the game so beloved in Europe was invented in China, not England or Italy. It is believed to help strengthen the bond among teams because only a good team can win a football match. At the same time, it also brings joy to the game and the people who watch it.

Certainly, what is the connection among boxing, football and Chinese martial arts? A few years ago, many would have chosen to learn soccer or take up boxing, but now even the smallest cities in Europe have martial arts centers. Both parents and children feel very satisfied and sometimes they even study together. Chinese martial arts bring things that other Western sports don'thave: stability, coordination, balance between mind and body. For every Westerner, this martial art suddenly became a gateway to another culture and a way to achieve happiness. No matter where everyone can live an easy life.

As more and more people are aware of martial arts, Chinese culture is spreadingaround the world. In Europe, such schools first appeared in Spain and Italy. People of all ages can practice martial arts, which is really unique.

Everyone has imagined that martial arts practitioners can jump on rooftops, jump over high obstacles, fight more than 10 opponents and still win, and every move they make will look perfect and cool. Many foreigners dream of flying from roof to roof to imitate animals in order to beat anyone anywhere. Hands will become weapons, with each breath increasing strength, one with all around you, one with the universe. Just like martial arts novels or movies, they can get closer to the dream of being a hero. In reality, people can't fly, but they can achieve a state of perfect tranquility, a balance of mind and body. These exercises reflect the real flow of life and contribute to better health.

Compared with all other sports, martial arts require hard work and peace of mind. Every action needs to be perfect. The use of ‘Qi’ is also a key element in Chinese martial arts to achieve the unity of inner and outer.

I believe there is no one who has not seen ‘Never Say Die’ (Shen Teng's movie), so we must know Shen Teng's classic line in the movie "You come here!" This sentence is very popular among young people because they like to use it when they have a difficult time, whether it is an interview, a difficult exam, or even inviting their favorite person out to dinner. Different people say it in many different places with different accents, but the effect is the same.

Maria Florina has started learning martial arts since she was seven years old, so she began to learn more about Chinese culture. Chinese martial arts helped her relieve stress and get better health because she had lung problems as a child. She has started learning Chinese in high school. She believes that if without the magic of martial arts, she would not have discovered the beauty of such a rich culture. She has never been to China, but her biggest dream is to visit the Shaolin Temple in China. Most overseas students have studied martial arts, but the influence of Chinese martial arts does not stop there. They created a new sport: Parkour. Parkour was first popular in France, so all teenagers try it at least once. They have to climb and jump over any obstacle, which is inspired by martial arts. But for many people, it is the process of challenging our limits and conquering the world, transforming our hatred, anger and fear into the joy of freedom.

Martial arts have been used in action movies like The Matrix and video games like Assassin's Creed, and they have influenced our way of thinking because we find that learning Chinese martial arts is not to show off, but to lead a better life. Chinese culture has spread rapidly through the accumulation of Chinese martial arts over thousands of years.
